    Ausangate Rainbow Mountain Tour 5 Days

    The Ausangate Trekking Tour 5 days is an expedition to one of the highest peaks in the Cusco region, the imposing Apu Ausangate (6,385 m). The people who live there live together with their animals such as Llamas and Alpacas, far from the turmoil of the modern world.

    During the Circuit to Ausangate, we will pass through ice walls, some glaciers, waterfalls of rivers coming from the thaws, hot springs, Rainbow mountain and underground waters. The Ausagate Trek Tour also offers incredible landscapes around the snowy mountains, where we can see wild vicuñas, vizcachas, condors, flamingos and Andean geese.

    ITINERARY

    Ausangate Rainbow Mountain Tour Itinerary

    DAY 1.- CUSCO – TINQUI – UPIS DAY 1.- CUSCO – TINQUI – UPIS

    The Ausangate Trekking Tour 5 days begins with the pick up from the hotel in Cusco. Then we will drive for 3 hours towards the town of Tinki where we will enjoy our first lunch. After a short nap we will start the trek to Ausangate for four hours until we reach the Urpis camp. This part of the Ausangate Tour will be short but interesting because during the tour we will meet local people with their typical costumes, as well as beautiful landscapes.

    Our first camp is with the view of the Ausangate Mountain, where we will also visit the hot springs. In the afternoon we will enjoy a coffee and dinner with a completely starry sky.

    DAY 2.- UPIS – PASO ARAPA – USANGATE KOCHA

    The Ausangate Tour Hike begins ascending until reaching the first pass of the Arapa pass (4,800 m). From here we will begin to descend for three hours passing through the Yanacocha and Puma cocha lagoons, where we will have lunch.

    After a short rest we will resume our Ausangate Trekking Tours in the direction of the second pass (4900 m). During the Ausangate road we will appreciate groups of alpacas, llamas, vicuñas and local people. Upon reaching the highest point we will have a panoramic view of the Ausangate Lagoon. After taking the photos and enjoying the impressive views, we will begin to descend to the Lagoon, where we will camp the second night.

    DAY 3.- AUSANGATE KOCHA – ABRA PALOMANI – PAMPAKANCHA

    After our nutritious breakfast, we will continue with our Ausangate Tour. This day will be the most difficult of the Ausangate Trek since we will reach the highest point of the Ausangate route. We will start our hike upwards until we reach the Palomani pass located at 5,200 m. Upon reaching this place we will appreciate a spectacular view of the mountain chain of the Vilcanota Cordillera, then we will descend where we will stop for lunch and take a short rest.

    We will resume our tour of the Nevado Ausangate until we reach Pampacancha, where we will enjoy our dinner and spend the night.

    DAY 4.- PAMPAKANCHA – Q’AMPA STEP – Q’OMERKOCHA

    After enjoying our nutritious breakfast we will start the Ausangate Tour. This time we will travel along a wide valley, where we will see the local people who wear colorful costumes, also groups of alpacas, llamas and sheep. Then we will ascend to the last pass, the Qampa pass (4600 m). From here we can see the beautiful Ticllacocha Lagoon, where we will have lunch.

    We will resume the Ausangate Tour through the Pachaspata plain where we will camp on the edge of the Qomercocha Lagoon.

    DAY 5.- Q’OMERKOCHA -TINKI – CUSCO

    Finally, the 5-day trek to Ausangate will bring us back to the city of Cusco on this day. Accompanied by the impressive landscapes of the Andes we will descend to the town of Pacchanta.

    After the endless and tiring walk through the Andean landscape we will arrive again at the town of Tinki and then board our transport to return to the city of Cusco.

    • A previous meeting at the Agency before the trip.

    • Sleeping bag (you can rent in our office $ 5 per day)
    • Tips for the guide, cook and muleteers
    • An additional horse if you have too much stuff. Cost is $ 10 per day.

    WHAT TO BRING

    Recommendations:

    • Personal hygiene items.
    • Wear comfortable shoes, recommended trekking shoes.
    • Bring personal medicines and original passport.
    • Bottle of water and purifying tablets.
    • Raincoat in the rainy season (from October to March).
    • Flashlight, camera and batteries.
    • Swimwear.
    • Insect repellent.
    • Blocker or sunscreen.
    • Caps for the sun.
    • Toilet paper, small towel.
    • Snacks: Cookies, chocolates, etc.
    • Horses (to carry tent, food and cooking equipment)
    • Canes.
