Choquequirao Trek 04 Days or cradle of gold in Quechua, is located at 3,085 meters of altitude, carved in stone by the Incas, where the organization of the Empire of the Tawantinsuyo (The four regions) was strictly directed by an Inca ruler. Choquequirao is protected by the Apurímac river and is surrounded by the snowy mountains of Yanama, Ampay, Choquetarpu and Pumasillo, this is a classic of the Inca city, with the sacred sectors, ritual temples, astronomical, urban and agricultural centers, only 30% of Its total surface was excavated, but an alliance between the governments of Peru and France promised to accelerate the work and are committed to turning it into a new Machu Picchu.
We leave at 04:00 from the city of Cusco to board the town of Cachora. We will arrive at around 7:30 a.m. to the town of Cachora, where we will have breakfast and where we will prepare our hiking equipment and horses to start our walk.
After 2 hours of walking we will arrive at Capuliyoc (2915 masl) where we descend to Coca Masana (2330 masl) where the climate will be dry, but warmer, the flora and fauna begin to change.
Finally arrive at Playa Rosalina (1550 masl) which is next to the Apurimac River where we will settle and camp for the night.
After a good breakfast, we will start our walk (considered the most impressive of the trip), we will leave very early and start the zigzagging path for about 5 hours. reaching Raqaypata standing next to the Chunchullumayo river where we will have our lunch. During the walk we can see varieties of orchids, wild flowers and also many varieties of birds. Then we will arrive at the site of Raqaypata which is located near Choquequirao (3,035 masl), then we will continue our walk for two hours to reach the archaeological site of Choquequirao and where we will take advantage of seeing the sunset and the flight of the condors. Our camp will be near the ruins.
This day is memorable where we will dedicate ourselves to explore all the ruins of Choquequirao, through the most important places, such as temples, platforms, military zones, Astronomical Center and the sacred temples, then the guide will explain the history and importance of the archaeological site. After the guided tour, you will have free time to visit the different sectors of the complex.
The afternoon will begin our return walk to Rosalina beach, which will be 3 hours down where we will settle and camp for the night.
After a good breakfast, we will continue our walk uphill for an average of 5 hours until we reach the Capuliyoc area, a suitable place to observe the flight of condors of different sizes, after this point we will have 2 more hours of walking to the town from cachora where we will take our bus to return to the city of Cusco.
